People Are Stupid
Yesterday I saw a story posted on Gawker about a tourist who lent his credit card to a stranger. Alright so he was an idiot, then this morning I saw a story on the Today Show about a puppy website selling people sick puppies.
We all understand that yes puppy mills are evil, if you want a purebred dog, you have to go to an AKC breeder or go to a shelter and get a rescue animal. The main problem I have with this story is how stupid the woman was who bought her dog, she said she wanted a mini purebred labradoodle. Uh …
- Labradoodles are not purebred dogs, they are a mix between a Poodle and a Labrador Retriever.
- Mini dogs are not breeds, unless they are smaller cousins of the larger breeds developed by hundreds of years of breeding and recognized by the AKC.
- You didn’t ask to visit the breeder? Really? Did you do no research at all before you bought your dog? The breeder where we got our dog required us to come visit her before she would sell us a dog.
- You paid $2,000 for a mutt? You’re an idiot!
A dog is not something that you one day decided to do a google search for “purebred “insert dog breed”” and then go with the first person you find. You do your research! I feel bad that you got saddled with a sick dog, and thousands in medical bills, but come on! Get some common sense and recognize the warning signs of a scam!
