Coffee Shop Opens
In a neighborhood known for coffee shops, the East Village welcomes the newly reopened The Bean. After The Bean closed to make way for a Starbucks, it left east villagers wondering where they would be able to get their coffee.
“I walk past three coffee shops on my way to the train in the morning,” stated local East Village resident Guy with Beard and Hornrim Glasses. “I am always in search of coffee shop, it’s like there’s never one around when I need it.”
The Bean reopened, but not after a tough fight with community board members who wanted to know if the coffee would be locally harvested from rooftop coffee gardens.
“We wanted to make sure that the products were local and not filled with harmful chemicals,” said Misty Waters, a transient who has lived in a illegal loft conversion in the East Village since 2009.
The Bean plans on serving the same sub-par coffee that made them a fixture on the “I’m a writer, and I need a place with free wi-fi” scene. Best of luck to The Bean in it’s new digs one avenue up from it’s old digs.
